Is the Gear Watch Designer the only way to transfer a .gwd sentry face file to your watch?
Is there anyway to get the file to your phone get-go and so to your watch?

I know of no way to practice it without the Gear Watch Designer program

IMHO Watch Confront is within file with file extension .tpk...
For me well-nigh Sentry faces are Widgets... .wgt..

Anyway... proper signed Watch Face =

                              sdb install properSignedWatchFace.tpk                            

Whole magic to install from Calculator to Gear... ehm Galaxy Spotter...

IMHO .gwd files are something else... unsigned "project" files...

Correct me if I am wrong.
